Leonard Cheshire Disability
Local Howdens depots have been working with the staff and residents of Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) centres up and down the UK to help them design, supply and install truly inclusive kitchens and activity facilities. These kitchens have helped to transform lives by giving disabled people in LCD the opportunity to cook for themselves and experience greater independence. Increasing involvement has led in return to a greater understanding of disability issues and has enabled Howdens Joinery to develop an inclusive range of kitchens that offers people of all abilities the same level of choice.
'We are delighted to be working with Howdens and we both know that it is a partnership that remains full of fresh posibilities. It's a business that has understood that providing comfort and support to disabled people should be part of a wider 'getting it right for the customer' policy. When you see all customers equally there's no need to see disabled people differently' - Mark Bishop, Head of Corporate Partnerships, Leonard Cheshire Disability.
The partnership between LCD and Howdens Joinery won the highly prestigious Third Sector Excellence Award for 'Best Corporate Partnership' for 2007.
