Howdens Joinery is delighted to achieve 7th position in The Sunday Times 30 Best Big Companies to work for 2017 survey.
This is a move on from 2014’s position of 12th, when Howdens last appeared in the survey.
The Best Companies list was created by analysing the views of more than 270,000 employees across 30 companies. At Howdens, we really value the individual opinions of our staff, and this was a great opportunity for everyone to have their say about what it’s like to work for us. We were encouraged to see that 60% of our employees contributed to the survey.
We know that, for our business to grow, we need to motivate and invest in our people – we want them to be proud to work here. So it’s good to know that the survey showed 80% of our staff feel pride in working for Howdens Joinery. Plus, 73% of our employees find our CEO Matthew Ingle to be an inspirational leader.
An important part of the Howdens culture is to incentivise success and reward effort with the opportunity to build a satisfying career. Among the employees surveyed, 69% said they are happy with the rewards and benefits available to them.
We are also proud that our people put so much into giving something back to their local communities. The way we see it, each Howdens depot depends on its local community for its business success, so we encourage all our staff to give their time and energy to help worthwhile local causes. This charitable work was a major factor in achieving such a great result in the survey.
