Lending a hand for early learning

When it comes to education, the early years can be the most important - which is why Howdens always tries to lend a hand...

Horsell C of E Junior School

When Horsell Church of England Junior School in Surrey received a grant to build an extension and develop its food-technology department, it approached local businesses for help with the kitchen and appliances. Staff at the Howdens Woking depot responded by donating a kitchen, keen to support the school's efforts to improve food education.

Cookery lessons have now become a big hit with the children at the school - and they especially like being able to take home the results at the end of the day! Howdens' staff were delighted to receive thank-you notes from the pupils, and were even invited to come along to a school assembly.
