One of Bristol's most famous attractions is its historic zoo, which is a popular destination for families and school trips...

Bristol Zoo

The zoo has recently refurbished its gorilla enclosure, and the local Howdens depot decided this would be a great platform for increasing awareness about responsibly sourced wood - an important part of the company's ethos.

As part of the Forest Stewardship Council's® (FSC®) summer campaign, Howdens installed a kitchen - using FSC® - certified materials - in the gorilla enclosure. Throughout the season, 12,000 visitors came along to get involved with all kinds of games and challenges at 'Kuki's Kitchen'. More importantly, nearly one in three of them pledged to seek out the FSC® logo in future.

As Tom Lillington of the Bristol depot explained: "We were proud to support the campaign and help encourage people to look out for the FSC® logo, which is so important. It was also a great experience for our staff - it's not every day you get to install a kitchen next to a family of gorillas!"
