Amy's House in Sheffield offers much-needed support to its local community, as a respite centre for families of children with special needs...
Trish Beatson of the Bramall Lane depot is a friend of Jayne Hurditch, whose own story is at the heart of Amy's House.
Jayne's daughter Molly was born with severe special needs, and her parents saw how a lack of out-of-school support was making things really tough for mother and daughter alike. So they set up Amy's House in 2003, named after Molly's sister, who had tragically died from meningitis a few years previously.
In 2011, Molly also passed away. The family story is devastating, but has not stopped Amy's House in its mission to help other families facing similar challenges. Howdens donated a kitchen to the house, to help staff with the practical side of providing the best possible support.
