Jason Hill has been the depot manager of Howdens in Kettering for ten years, but he recently decided to leap from depot to dance floor, to raise money for Lakelands Hospice...
Lakelands is an independent charity that gives palliative care to people suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
Jason’s wife Nikki is a fundraiser, and in 2011 set up a dance competition, ‘Strictly Corby’, to help support the charity. Entering the competition had been a dream of Jason’s for a long time, so he was thrilled to finally have the chance to get involved in October 2015.
He joined nine other contestants to take to the stage after just ten weeks of practice, performing to an audience of over 500 people. He learnt ballroom and Latin dances to try and wow the judges, and together with the other contestants managed to raise an impressive £34,000 for Lakelands Hospice.
Although Jason didn’t finish top of the podium, he enjoyed himself so much he decided to pursue his newfound love. He recently stepped up to take a dance exam. Next stop Blackpool!
