Preserving history

Situated on the eastern side of Hayling Island, the RNLI Lifeboat Station provides emergency cover for one of Britain’s busiest shipping routes...

Hayling Island, the RNLI Lifeboat Station

Past crews of the station have been presented with over 30 awards for gallantry. The station’s museum proudly tells their story along with 150 years of lifesaving history in the Solent.  The popular visitor attraction describes the history of life-saving on the island, but had needed updating for some time to cover more recent years.

Howdens Havant depot was approached to help with the museum and crew room refurbishment through an account holder.  Depot Manager, James Lee agreed to donate kitchen units and worktops to bring the museum in line with other RNLI museums across the UK in terms of colour scheme.
