Howdens’ Biggin Hill started a long standing fundraising journey with Chartwell Cancer Trust when it first opened its doors in July 2012...

Fundraising day for Chartwell Cancer Trust

As their account base grew, local tradesmen spoke with passion about the local charity and began to suggest supporting some of the events they organised.

The Chartwell Cancer Trust provides financial support for the Chartwell Cancer and Leukaemia Unit in the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough, as well as the CCT Tiger Ward, a unit for children with cancer and leukaemia.

To bring the depot staff and their families, account holders and the local business community together, the depot hosted an open day.  As well as providing a hog roast and refreshments, the depot showcased the Howdens Series I Land Rover and other vintage cars provided by Heritage Hanger, which is a local restoration company who also fundraise for the charity.

Representatives from the Chartwell Trust and the CCT Tiger Ward attended the open day and enjoyed being able to discuss the role of the cancer units and the great fundraising achievements by local people and businesses.

Over £1,000 was raised by the depot throughout 2016 and they have pledged to continue their support of the charity going forward. Iain Goodchild, Kitchen Designer has signed up to do a charity jump with the CCT Sky diving Team in March 2017.
