Biscuit jointers are used to connect two pieces of wood together for a sturdy fit. Often called plate joiners, they allow for exact slots to be made in a material that can then be filled with glue and secured together. They come with a choice of depth stops, so that a cut can be set to the right thickness, as well as with an adjustable-height angle guide and fence adjustment for precision cutting. Many feature a handy dust bag to limit wood shavings from entering the air or falling on the floor for a tidier workspace. Biscuit jointers are designed with soft-grip controls that are comfortable to use, and are lightweight and compact enough to be carried easily from site to site.
