Installation
- Care and Maintenance
-
- Move furniture carefully to avoid damaging the top layer surface
- Do not use steam mops or cleaners
- Direct sunlight may have an effect on the colour of the floor over a period of time
- Self-adhesive pads and castor cups should be fitted to furniture to avoid scratching where applicable. Note: Heavy scratching could break the seal on the flooring causing damage
- Do not use cleaning agents containing wax, polish or oil
- Use the floor exclusively under the recommended conditions outlined in the instructions
- Do not leave standing water on the floor, wipe up any spills immediately
- General cleaning of the floor should be done using a soft broom or vacuum cleaner
- A well rung out mop can also be used periodically, however avoid the use of excess water
- We recommend that floor mats are used at entrances to the property - this will help avoid abrasive particles damaging the surface
- Do not use abrasive cleaning materials: scouring powders, steel wool, metal brushes etc.
- Fitting Instructions
-
- For full details please see the fitting instructions supplied with the flooring.
- Important notes
-
- Remove all previous floor coverings
- Must leave 12mm expansion gap around the entire floor including cabinet legs, radiator pipes and door frames
- For timber based sub-floor, lay Bitumen Moisture Barrier Paper
- Use SDH0900 - Howdens 2mm Foam underlay & SDH0909 High Performance Underlay (XPS)*
- If laying over a stone/mineral sub-floor, lay SDH0910 - Howdens Damp Proof Membrane (at least 0.2mm thick PE foil) first as a "trough" (i.e. lay over the floor and extend ends and sides up the walls for a few centimetres) or SDH0931 Paintable Damp Proof Membrane
- Moisture test must be carried out for all mineral based substrates (2.0 CM % for cement screed and 0.5 CM % for sulphate screed), a relative air humidity of about 50-70% should be maintained
- Sealed packs must be stored for at least 48 hours where they are to be laid. Do not open packs until you are ready to install the flooring. Packs are to be laid flat on the floor with at least 50cm between packs and walls. Packs should be stored in a room with a minimum temperature of 18°C
- Do not install cabinets over the floor
- The maximum area without additional expansion joints is 8m width x 8m length
- High performance Underlay (XPS) is not suitable when using underfloor heating
- Installation notes
-
- Under no circumstances should the toilet, bath or sink pedestal ever be screwed directly to the floor, instead a 12mm expansion gap should be left around the base
- After installation, any expansion gaps should be filled with a flexible silicone sealant which can then be covered with skirting, beading or across thresholds with a door-bar
- A damp mat must not have prolonged contact with laminate flooring
- Bathroom floors can be installed as normal
- Make sure that you apply a flooring joint sealer (SDH0099) down the long & the short profile before clicking together - (and wipe away any excess immediately after clicking together) - in order to achieve optimum moisture resistance
- Make sure that any spilt water is wiped from the floor immediately and that you use a bath mat when getting out of the bath / shower
- Ensure that after bathing / showering this mat is removed from the floor to dry
- Extra care must be taken when using laminate flooring in bathrooms due to the increased risk of water damage
- Laying detail
- Must be laid as a floating floor (see instructions)
- Suitable for underfloor heating
- Yes - Electric and radiant if installed as per the instructions (note must not exceed 27 degrees)
