Howdens' employees support a wide variety of worthwhile causes up and down the country; one cause in 2012 was the 'Huge Day Out'...
This fun filled day raises money for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough. The charity centres on an event held in St.Ives every August bank holiday weekend.
It started as a small gathering of friends and family in the garden of Philip Pope, who founded the charity with his brothers, and now draws thousands of people with attractions such as live bands, fair rides, inflatables and balloon races.
So far, it's raised £15,000, helped by donations from local businesses such as the Howdens' St.Ives depot, where manager Paul Routledge is friends with Philip.
