Our design and manufacturing is based in the UK, with many of our products made in our own factories here. This mean we can develop and make products that meet your expectations on quality, and ensure they are always in stock. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, we develop and make products that match our customers needs, when they need it, in a way that is beneficial for all.

Innovation and Design

We drive innovation and design at our Product Development Centre in Yorkshire. We attend trade fairs, consult with forecast experts, and utilise customer feedback gathered through depots, to understand what tomorrow’s kitchens look like. When creating new products, research and testing take place at our dedicated facility, allowing us to deliver market-leading products faster.

Manufacturing Guild Mark

In 2020 we were awarded the prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark from The Furniture Makers’ Company. This accolade is a mark of excellence, distinguishing Britain’s top furnishing manufacturers since 1993. It is awarded to companies that demonstrate high standards across several assessment criteria, including design, product development, manufacturing, and sustainability.

For 30 years, we have combined our product know-how with trade expertise to ensure you get a kitchen with the finest, tailored fit and finish. All our product design, testing, and paint finishing for our classic timber kitchens are based in the UK. That means we can pay personal attention to every detail of your kitchen at every step of the way.

Responsibly Sourced Timber

We ensure our products come from responsibly managed forests and are produced in an environmentally friendly way. This is why we are certified to operate the Forest Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement of the Forest Certification Chain of Custody. These bodies mean we can trace the source of all our wood-based products back to the forest they were made.

We invest In Our Facilities

We invested over £220m into our manufacturing and distribution across four years. We control our production and use efficient processes that keep costs down and environmental impact down. For example, we convert 12k tonnes of sawdust into energy to power our factories, and 100% of our packaging is recycled.

Howdens Cabinets Are UK Made

All Howdens kitchen cabinets are designed and manufactured at our factories within the UK, at sites in Yorkshire and Cheshire. As these factories only serve one customer, Howdens, they can operate solely to meet the specific needs of our depots and our trade customers.

UK Manufactured Worktops

At our factory in Yorkshire, we make Howdens laminate worktops and breakfast bars, plus many of our cabinet doors. By manufacturing these in the UK, we can cut down on unnecessary waste and time spent sourcing products, and get them installed into homes quicker.
