Sobell Lodge, Staplehurst

This home for physically disabled adults is set in the peaceful rural village of Staplehurst near Maidstone, Kent...

Sobell Lodge is designed in a 'horseshoe' shape as two interconnecting single storey wings, one being Sobell Lodge and the other, Moat Lodge. Each lodge is home to 10 residents.

Howdens installed a residents' drinks and snacks kitchenette in the lounge of one wing and an activity kitchen in the other. This was Howdens' first installation which focused on life skills retraining as well as activity. These installations were based on learnings from earlier kitchen designs, with the addition of multi-bowl sink areas with a central monobloc tap.
