Underlay
Underlay is placed beneath floorboards or tiles to provide the floor with added support and protection. Supplied as a layer of cushioning, it is made from a variety of materials including foam, polyethylene and polystyrene and can be cut to fit the area required. Once fitted correctly, underlay provides a soft and bouncy feeling underfoot for added comfort and helps retain heat - great for saving on energy costs. It also prevents moisture penetration affecting floorboards and serves as a sound insulation barrier to prolong the life of floors in the home. Different types of underlay are available to suit various natural and manmade floor materials.
