I can’t fault anything from the initial communication with my customer regarding her kitchen to completion. The designer, Monika, was very helpful and nothing was any trouble to her during the fit if questions were needing answering. Finally, the ease of Howdens return policy is fantastic and allows you to order enough components in the knowledge you can return any unwrapped items with a full refund.

Rude manager and poor customer service

I went into Howdens Luton branch to get a wall unit as it’s my local Depo. ( previously brought from Milton Keynes branch a few weeks ago who price matched according to their company policy) They had to confirm with builder so had to go in next day I also asked if they would price match the gentleman said yes. Who I believe was the branch manager. Next day when I asked for price match the gentleman serving me asked another employee and she asked someone else and then he asked another employee. I believe the manager came out and I showed him b&q unit and first he tried to say it wasn’t the same unit then he price matched and charged vat on top. I told him I wasn’t charged vat before it was a straight price match. He wouldn’t budge. His response was you came in here with a gentleman’s details ( who was a registered trades person with an account who they rang up and confirmed with) and I can charge you £70 if I want but I will be charging vat on the price match. So I pointed out that it states on their website that they price match and also I had the same on the other units. He lied saying it’s not on the website and said if you want to go drive all the way to Milton Keynes you can to get £8 off but I will be charging you. He was taking advantage of the fact that it would cause me inconvenience and petrol to go drive down to MK also I have a chronic illness and suffer from fibromyalgia I am so disgusted and appalled with this behaviour just for £8 this man who represents such a big reputable company will lie and treat their customers in such a manner. He was rude and had very bad attitude. I did end up buying the unit because as I have the builder coming tomorrow to finish the job. But it’s sicking how the manager took advantage of my situation.
