Do not buy a Kitchen from Howdens.

I purchased a Kitchen from Howdens in Grimsby and had it fitted by a Howdens-approved installer. Within months, the work surface started to delaminate, and the work surface started to swell. I complained to Wayne, the Manager at Howdens Grimsby, as it was still under warranty. He was not helpful; he stated that Howdens do not honour water-damaged claims. However, he asked me to take photos of the worktops, and he would send them to their Quality Assurance Department. The Quality Assurance Department rejected the claim and said I must have allowed water to get on the worktop. This is a ridiculous assertion; the kitchen should be designed to be water-resistant because water does get on work surfaces by virtue of being regularly cleaned. I claimed my credit card under Section 75, and they paid for me to have a new worktop fitted. I used another kitchen installer to fit the new worktop supplied by Howdens. However, within months the same thing happened the work surface started to delaminate and the work surface started to swell. I have since had a B&Q worktop fitted, with no problems.
