Doors for Christmas!

My local branch pulled out the stops to ensure that my order was fulfilled before Christmas, in time for my doors to be fitted between Christmas and New Year. They organised for out-of-stock items to be fulfilled from another local branch, which just required me to take a short trip to pick up, literally just before the festive season closure. A great, early Christmas present :-)

Service above and beyond what you come to expect today

From the moment we had the kitchen designed to being supplied with any back up required the service has been prompt and friendly. Excess panels etc were returned with no quibble. Also when you ring up you talk to a human being and are not 142 in the queue. Recently an appliance needed replacing within the warranty period, no hassle. I can't praise the Newbury branch enough, unlike the Stroud branch my daughter gave up trying to get them to come out to her.

Poor quality solid wood worktops…

We purchase three pre finished solid oak worktops for one of my customers, on installation it became apparent the worktops were warped and not straight! Obviously this isn’t a problem when you can sand the joints down but rubbish when the worktops are solid oak pre finished grey! We then purchased the oil that Howdens recommended using after the joints were rubbed down, absolute rubbish, after spending £600 per worktop we ended up having to sand all the worktops down and re piling them with a grey oak oil from another company! I ended up losing a lot of money on the installation and missed nights sleep worrying how we were going to put it right as Howdens offered no advice or recommendation! After speaking with them they were aware of the issues and yet they still sell the product. After losing so much money on the installation I won’t be buying pre finished solid wood from them again.
