            About Josh & Dan

After spending their twenties saving, Josh and Dan recently moved into their forever home. Eager to get stuck into renovation, the couple found a builder online to bring their sleek design to life. The result is a contemporary space inspired by the Modern Luxury look, as featured in our Kitchen Trends 2024 Guide.

            The design goals

            • Josh and Dan standing in their kitchen which contains black wall cupboards with fluted glass doors and handleless walnut units.

              The vision

The original layout was outdated and didn’t maximise the small space. So, a contemporary scheme with better storage and more surface areas was a priority for the couple.
            • A modern luxury kitchen featuring walnut and black cupboards doors in a slab style. The kitchen also contains white worktops.

              The final look

Taking their cue from the Modern Luxury kitchen trend, Josh and Dan paired Hockley black and walnut fronts. They also added extra units for organisation and longer counters for a functional design.

“We love architectural homes, so when we saw Howdens’ Kitchen Trends 2024 guide, we knew the Modern Luxury look would create a design that matched our taste.”

            The design detials

            • Handle-free fronts

Josh and Dan wanted to capture a contemporary look for their makeover. With its clean lines and sophisticated style, Hockley Handleless fit the bill.
            •  Timber texture

Walnut fronts elevate the couple's high-end design. Made to mimic real timber, they add contrast to their black cupboards for a premium take on two-tone.
            • Fluted glass wall units on either side of a black, angled chimney extractor in a kitchen. Contains white backboards and worktops.

              Glazed storage

The couple’s designer stripped back wall cabinets for a clutter-free aesthetic. Fluted glass cupboards add to the open effect and create an eye-catching look.
            • Signature surface

Josh and Dan chose a bespoke, white counter to lift their dark scheme. They tailored the size and profile for a custom finish that this trend is known for.
            • Trending tech

To keep things sleek, the couple picked built-in appliances, including an oven. Their builder fitted this higher up, so there's no need to bend to see the dishes.
            • A multi-functional tap

The Modern Luxury look is centred on multi-use features, so the duo chose a 4-in-1 Quooker tap, which provides boiling, hot, cold, and filtered water.
            • Practical pantry

Functionality and fashion are key to this trend, so Josh and Dan updated their larder with shelves and lights for a smart, storage spot.
            • Designer door

With its linear style and dark shade, our Lennox door complements the cupboards and ties this modern makeover together.

            Josh

“There are so many features we love. From the bespoke worktops to the two-tone design, each element works cohesively to capture the Modern Luxury trend.”
