About Katie & Travis

Katie and Travis share a 1920s terraced house with their three, young boys. As working parents, their kitchen needed to suit a busy lifestyle. The couple’s builder had plenty of experience with Howdens, so they knew they were in safe hands.

Design goals

Dated and disorganised, Kate and Travis' old kitchen was in dire need of a revamp. With three boys, they wanted a durable design that would transcend trends, plus lots of storage to keep things tidy.

The finished floorplan

The couple chose Bridgemere Linen's soft tone and shaker style for a timeless look. Their pantry provides plenty of storage, while hardwearing counters ensure the kitchen withstands the demands of a busy family.

With its framed, five-piece design, Bridgemere brings classic character to the couple’s period home. The ornate beading elevates the shaker look for a high-end, heritage feel, while the linen shade has the everlasting appeal that Katie and Travis aspired to.

Decorative details

Clever corner storage

Corner cupboards unlock unused space within the compact layout, providing another spot for storing supplies. The couple's designer also added pull-out accessories to keep items within easy reach.

Personalised pantry

Katie and Travis wanted a space to hide bulky items, like vacuums, from view. So, their trade professional fitted a secret cupboard behind the pantry where they could store devices out of sight.

Bespoke breakfast station

To connect the kitchen and dining areas, Katie and Travis' designer created a custom breakfast zone. Here, the family can gather before setting off for a busy day.

Custom counters

A bespoke, acrylic worktop was made-to-measure to create an exact fit in the small space. Katie and Travis love this high-end feature for its premium appeal and hardwearing properties.

A time-saving tap

Both Katie and Travis wanted to free up counter space, so they chose an instant hot water tap. It dispenses heated water in seconds, saving time when cooking or making a quick brew.

Golden handles

To bring out the warm tones in the worktops, the duo chose brass handles. They also give a golden glow against the pale cabinets for a welcoming interior.

"The open pantry is our favourite feature because it gives us additional storage. The back of the cupboard allows us access to a secret space where we can hide items we don't want on display."
