A Small Kitchen Makeover With Ellen White

Featuring muted tones and plenty of storage, this small kitchen makeover with Ellen White sees a compact cooking space transformed into a highly functional and fashionable room that is classic, clutter-free, and ready for this footballer’s needs. A former pro from England’s Lioness squad, Ellen enjoys her Derbyshire home with husband, Callum, while spending quality time with family around her busy schedule. When renovating, the couple found their cooking layout cramped and cumbersome, so they sought the help of our Farnborough depot, and a trade professional, to create a kitchen makeover that was open and organised. With the support of their designer, Ellen and Callum achieved a classic setup that captures the traditional decor found throughout their home.

              Taking aim

A busy schedule means Ellen savours time spent with family. So, her new kitchen had to be practical, open, and inviting while continuing her home's classic charm.

              Tapping into tradition

A u-shaped format and clever storage provide a functional setup for Ellen's family life. She also chose shaker units with timber tops to hone in on heritage style.

            • Gaining grey

Ellen opted for an understated, dove-grey tone to create the illusion of space. The light appearance and brightening effect make her room feel open.
            • Solid wood shaker

The footballer chose Chilcomb door fronts with a framed shaker style. When combined with its authentic woodgrain detail, it offers a first-class design.

            • Timber texture

Solid oak counters add a rustic accent to Ellen's cosy cooking area. These surfaces are easy to refresh to keep them looking newer for longer.
            • Chef-friendly tech

An induction hob was recommended by the couple's designer. Its flush-fitting style reduces clutter, while electromagnetic tech makes cooking fast and efficient.

            • Coffee to go

Ellen stacked a coffee machine on top of her oven to save valuable counter space. This little luxury gives our Lioness a quick caffeine fix on busy days.
            • Mix-and-match moments

By using cup and knob handles, Ellen added a  personal touch in a subtle and clutter-free way.  The nickel finish is also a timeless choice that transcends trends.
            • Clutter-free cupboards

A large tower gives Ellen plenty of storage by maximising the room's height. This also frees up floor space in her compact layout to make way for other essentials.
            • Space-savvy storage

Conveniently placed beneath the cooking area, Ellen chose deep and wide drawers to elongate the design. It also gives extra space for pots and pans.
            • Simple slide-outs

Pull-out storage makes ingredients quick and easy to find during busy meal times. It also means Ellen can keep her cupboards neatly organised.
            • Maximising space

With clever accessories added to corner units, Ellen has made awkward areas a thing of the past. These nifty add-ons bring items forward for easy access.
